¿Cómo puedo saber si tengo intolerancia alimentaria?
Una persona puede padecer intolerancia alimentaria sin ser consciente de ello, a componentes básicos de su dieta, como la leche, huevos… El desconocimiento de esta situación puede ir dañando poco a poco su salud.
Algunos síntomas pueden indicar se está consumiendo ciertos alimentos que nuestro organismo no tolera: diarrea, sobrepeso, fatiga crónica, dolor de cabeza o estómago, problemas de la piel o inflamación de articulaciones.
¿Qué es la intolerancia alimentaria?
La intolerancia alimentaria es una reacción adversa del propio metabolismo (formación de anticuerpos) ante la ingesta de un determinado alimento o componente de un alimento. En esta reacción no interviene el sistema inmunológico salvo en el caso de la intolerancia al gluten, en la que sí interviene el sistema inmune.
En la mayoría de los casos, esta reacción se debe a alteraciones en el metabolismo de los alimentos, que por origen genético o adquirido con el tiempo, impiden la digestión, asimilación y aprovechamiento de ciertas sustancias que contienen los alimentos.
La intolerancia alimentaria afecta de forma diferente a cada persona: unos alimentos que son beneficiosos para una persona pueden ser perjudiciales para otra. Por ello, se debe analizar cada caso a través de un estudio clínico personalizado, el test de intolerancia alimentaria.
